Our story

An authentic riad in Bab Ghmat

Riad Davina occupies a traditional house in the popular Booskri neighbourhood, known as Bab Ghmat, right in the heart of Marrakech's medina. There's no tourist circuit here: in the alley outside, men, women and children go about their daily lives, far from the clichés — a genuine change of scenery and true immersion in Marrakchi life.

The contrast between the discreet, almost anonymous façade and the riad's interior is striking: the moment you step through the door, calm and serenity take over in a typically Moroccan courtyard, with its zellige fountain, orange tree and small traditional pool.

Six rooms with carefully preserved Moroccan architecture make up this guesthouse, run with care by Mohssine, Hayat and Abde. Mohssine welcomes travellers and advises them on places to visit; Hayat looks after the rooms, guests' wellbeing, and prepares pancakes and omelettes for breakfast; Abde is on duty through the night and opens the riad's door at any hour.

Located at Derb Hmida Lajaaj 3, Baba Ghmat, the riad is well served by petit taxis (10 minutes max to Jemaa el-Fna) and within walking distance of the medina's main sights.
